It's been a very long journey but we're excited (and relieved) to announce that our live Peregrine Cam can now be viewed on our Lister Mills page here. It's taken just over a year to get to this point, after installing the nestbox in February last year. We'd not imagined it would be almost as challenging to get our cameras fully wired in as it was to get a nestbox up on the chimney! Fortunately, we've made it and we're very pleased with the pictures so far.

Exciting footage of the Peregrines from Saturday

We've had access to recordings from the camera for a few days, and this is what we really wanted to see - both birds performing courtship by bowing and beak rubbing. At the end of the clip you can see the female scrape making. Both birds have been digging the scrape every day, and they've shifted quite a lot of the gravel, which has spilled out of the inner chamber! We're now waiting avidly, and slightly nervously, to see if and when our female will start egg laying. We would estimate it should be sometime around the 20th March. But our neighbours at University of Leeds (where our resident Lister Mills Tiercel, TBD, was born in 2019) saw their earliest egg laying ever, when the first egg was laid by 7.H on Friday night. So it could happen at any time. Fingers crossed all goes well. We hope you enjoy the Peregrine Cam, and please don't forget to follow us on our socials for all the latest news and to share your thoughts and observations with us.
