Our new Dalton Mills Peregrine camera is now live to watch on our website! Over the last few months we've been working closely with our friends at the Keighley Bus Museum to install and livestream the Dalton Mills Peregrines.

Shortly before we started our project, the owner of Dalton Mills went bankrupt. Ownership of the Mills passed to the Crown Estate, leaving the building in stasis.

With no owners, the building has been trashed, with a number of fires further damaging what's left of the structure (with one spreading to the roof of the Bus Museum next door). Fortunately the chimney, where the Peregrines nest, has survived. But the building situation has meant that we have been unable to install a camera in the nesting alcove used by the birds. Whilst having a camera up close would have been preferable, we've come up with a plan B.

With brilliant support from Keighley Bus Museum Trust, we have installed a camera on the Bus Museum roof. We can't see down into the nest but we will have views of the chicks as when they get a little bigger. The camera is quite a long way from the chimney, so the picture isn't crystal clear but it's hopefully good enough for us to enjoy some great views of the peregrines. Note that there may be some interuptions to the livestream - with anything new there are always gremlins in the system, which we will endeavour to sort out as soon as we can.

Bradford Peregrines and BUWG would like to pass on our thanks to the Bus Museum volunteers for being so welcoming and for diving in and getting the getting the camera installation done. The Bus Museum is working hard to get the building ready for reopening after the fire last year. If you can, please help out by making a donation here. We're looking forward to Bus Museum re-opening shortly!

Last year the Dalton Mills Peregrines had four chicks so it will be interesting to see how many they have this year. There are definitely chicks, as we have seen food being taken in to the alcove by the parents. Let us know on our socials, as soon as you spot the chicks on the livestream!
